Does Trump have the power to deport millions of illegal immigrants and can he really build a wall that protects the whole southern border? I have good news and bad news. Trump has the power to deport many illegal immigrants, but its unlikely he will be able to deport 11 million illegal immigrants like he promised to. There isn’t enough money in the United States budget to deport every single immigrant. But, President Elect Trump does have the power to give border patrol and Home Land Security more authority. Giving these two agencies more authority will allow them to deport more people with little cost. Mr. Trump did say that he was going to hire more border patrol and more people to deport illegal immigrants, but there isn’t enough money in our budget to find that feasible. Trump’s promised wall will never become reality, he said that the wall will cost 12 billion dollars. This number is quite untrue the actual amount that the wall will cost is over triple what he said it would cost, at 38 billion dollars. You might be thinking, he said that Mexico will pay for the wall. That is unlikely also, Trump as no leverage over Mexico, for them to pay for the wall. Since Mexico won’t be paying for the wall, the tax payers would be paying for his wall. He would have to raise taxes a lot to raise the money for a massive wall, because 38 billion dollars would take up nearly all the budget for 22 different government agencies. Since his wall won’t become reality he will push for the deportation of all the illegals. Republican Lawmakers have been drafting bills to raise the budget for more border security and have businesses check if their employees are legal immigrants. He has too have businesses check their employees because he can’t just break down every homes doors and search if the people are illegal immigrants. First of all even if they have suspicion that you are an illegal, they can’t just come to your house one random day and break down your door and deport you. Even illegal immigrants have many of the same rights as a citizen. They can’t search and seize you without significant evidence. They can’t come into your house without a court approved warrant. Know your rights so you aren’t wrongly deported because of them doing something illegal.
Trump most likely to make getting a green card more difficult.
Trump also wants to limit the amount of immigrants coming into the country legally. He can do that easily, with just one signature. He will limit how many people can get a green card. He also wants to make the process of getting a green card longer and more precise. It will be difficult for him to do that because it is already difficult to get one and it already can take up to one year to get a green card. Mr. Trump also will repeal Obamas immigration initiative that protects children that were brought here illegally from getting deported. 742,000 people had qualified for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival(DACA) and about 29% of those people who qualified for this lives in California.
President Elect Trump has some empty promises that will never come true. The wall won’t be built because its just too expensive for him to build. Mr. Trump would have to find 38 billion dollars for him to justify building the wall. But sadly he has the power to deport many people but not at the scale he promised he would. His promises are too expensive for him to fulfill. But he can over turn some of Obamas immigration initiatives and he can make it harder for you to get a green card. Since Obama is still our president at this moment, I encourage you to apply for a green card now. If you want to know how to get your green card check out this article.
